European Meetings on Culture and Disability

The aim of the European Meetings on Culture and Disability is to bring together professionals, individuals and/or organizations working for the artistic creation of disabled people and their integration into European cultural organizations.

Thanks to these organizations you can exchange, show and promote some creations and projects within the culture and disability fields at the European level.

These meetings will take place during June the 7th and 9th 2006, for the three days of Autonomic Paris fair. You will find there several kinds of events : Small shows, Films, Debates, conferences, Exhibitions of works of arts (paintings, sculptures, photos), Off shows in various cultural Parisian scenes, Autonomic Art competition.

Take part in the European Meetings on Culture & Disability

This is an exceptional meeting place to exchange, discover and open up to new horizons.

It is a unique crossroads for disabled people searching for cultural activities more widely accessible to everyone. This meeting-place manages to promote equal opportunities as regards access to culture.

Four events: the Culture Village with more than 40 exhibitors a dozen of which are national cultural establishments and many resource centers: Autonomic Art contest, the Festival “Inside/Out” including several shows, exhibitions, films, activities, debates and the European Conference on Culture and Disability on June 7th at 2pm.

Organizations and people involved in these Meetings bear the hallmark “Actor of the European Meetings on Culture and Disability”.

Culture Village

The Culture Village is an area located within Autonomic fair bringing together more than 40 exhibitors a dozen of which are national cultural establishments committed to creating an inclusive environment for people with disabilities, many resource centers focusing on the cultural access for disabled people (music, dance, theatre, reading, etc.), a wealth of information on cultural activities and accessible places, training resources, advice and assistance, an information point “Europe, Culture & Disability”, high points on the booths showing how cultural activities can be accessible to eveyrone.

Festival "Inside/Out"

The festival "Inside/Out" (shows, films, debates, conferences, exhibitions within Autonomic fair Paris Expo on June 7, 8, 9th 2006 and in several places during the whole month as in the Finnish Institute in Paris, the school O Clair de la Lune (drama school welcoming people with disabilities), the CASCAD device Paris 20è (Assistance Unit of Cultural Services at Home) etc.

AUTONOMIC ART

The 2nd edition of AUTONOMIC ART competition will reward disabled artists and organizations working within the field of culture and/or handicap for their creations and promote their works.

The competition is opened to artists or companies, disabled or working with disabled people, exhibiting or not on Autonomic fair, alone or by team, amateurs or professionals and to organizations (culture specialist, day centre, club, etc) having made some innovative projects in the cultural and disabled field.

Amateurs and professionals will each be awarded.
